Our Clinics are COVID-19 Testing Locations
Affinity Urgent Care is pleased to provide testing for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, at our fully equipped urgent care centers in La Marque, Alvin, and Galveston, Texas. We can also administer coronavirus antibody testing, a relatively new service that can shed light on past COVID-19 infections.
If you suspect that you are currently experiencing coronavirus symptoms, your first step is to give us a call to schedule an in-person or Virtual Visit at one of our three locations. You also have the option to schedule your appointment online or walk in during our hours of operation. Through our convenient telehealth services, you can speak “face-to-face” with one of our clinicians via your smartphone, tablet, or computer. After evaluating your symptoms, he or she may recommend that you visit us for COVID-19 testing, which will be safely performed inside of our clinic in accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
COVID-19 Testing vs. Antibody Testing
A COVID-19 test is performed using a nasopharyngeal swab to determine if a patient is currently infected with the virus. An antibody test, on the other hand, involves testing a blood sample for antibodies that were produced by a past coronavirus infection. The symptoms of COVID-19 are sometimes vague or subtle, so an infection isn’t always obvious. Both of these tests provide valuable insight to patients and can enhance the medical community’s understanding of the scope of this disease.
